Terry Gunderson

This year, Dr. Terry Gunderson started his fourth decade teaching at
Casper College. He recent teaching schedule has included Percussion,
Music Fundamentals, History of Rock, and distance learning. He also
teaches History of Jazz for the University of Wyoming/Casper College
Center. He earned the Doctor of Arts in Percussion Performance and
Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado, with a minor in Music
Theory. His dissertation was a pedagogical study of solo jazz
vibraphone performance which ultimately resulted in the method book,
Guide to Solo Vibraphone. He authored the *Vibraphone* entry for
the Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World. He has also published a
number of original compositions for percussion ensemble. Dr. Gunderson
is principal percussionist of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra and has
played in the pit for dozens of Casper College Theatre Department’s
musicals. In the past couple decades you may also have heard him
speaking at one of the annual Humanities Festivals.

This past Spring for the Casper Chamber Music Society, Dr. Gunderson
played selections representing many different regions of the world, including Japan,
Africa, Spain, Guatemala, and Argentina. The Music Department’s new
five-octave Imperial Grand marimba will be featured throughout the concert.
