Stephanie Scarcella - POSTPONED

May 4, 2014 • 4:00 p.m.
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church

This performance has been postponed until the 2014-2015 season.

Mezzosoprano Stephanie Scarcella, originally from Casper, is ecstatic to return to her home town and be on the roster for ARTCORE once again. The 2013 season was filled with music and many exciting opportunities for Stephanie. In March she sang the role of Sister Helen Prejean with Boston Opera Collaborative in the New England premiere of Jake Heggie’s opera Dead Man Walking. Her concert season included alto solos in Michael Haydn’s Requiem, and Carissimi’s Jepthe, and a recital of operatic duets. In August, Stephanie added another new operatic role to her repertoire, the title role in La Cenerentola (Cinderella) by Rossini again produced by Boston Opera Collaborative.

Ms. Scarcella has also appeared in the concert setting as a soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Great Organ Mass, Bach’s St. John Passion, and SaintSaens Christmas Oratorio.

Stephanie received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, and Masters of Music in Opera from The Boston Conservatory. She was a New Orleans District Winner for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2011, and a SemiFinalist (Graduate Level) for the Classical Singer Magazine University Competition in 2010. Stephanie is a student of Dr. Rebecca Folsom. More information and updates about her performances can be found on her website at stephaniescarcella.com.

Co-Sponsored by the Casper Journal and the Parkway Plaza. Partial funding is from the Schneider Fund in the Casper Area Community Foundation, the Wyoming Arts Council through the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming State Legislature, and Natrona County School District No. 1.
