Likai He with Dr. Sunjung Lee

Violinist Likai He began his studies on the violin at the age of four with his father Jianjun He, a music professor at Jacksonville University. Described by the Florida Times-Union as a gifted musician with a very bright future, Likai has performed extensively throughout the United States and China. As a soloist, Likai has appeared with the Jacksonville Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, Georgia Philharmonic, and the Columbus State University Philharmonic, among others. Likai has also performed at the Kennedy Center, Artist Series of Sarasota, Jacksonville Friday Musicale, and ARTCORE of Wyoming. Among Likai's awards and honors include prizes at the Jacksonville Symphony Young Artists Competition, Artist Series of Sarasota Competition, Georgia Philharmonic Young Artists Competition, Young Texas Artists Competition and Presser Award. At the age of 16, Likai was admitted to the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, studying with Sergiu Schwartz, and awarded the prestigious Woodruff Award. Likai received his Master of Music degree at Rice University Shepherd School of Music under the tutelage of Cho-Liang Lin. Currently, Likai is a doctoral student at the Shepherd School where he is the recipient of the Tudor Family Endowed Scholarship for Strings.

Likai will be accompanied by Dr. Sunjung Lee. A concert pianist, Dr. Sunjung Lee, actively performs as a soloist and chamber musician. She also has been featured as a soloist with orchestras and has been invited to participate as a guest pianist in prestigious music festivals such as Atlantic Music Festival, Beijing International Music Festival and Academy, Busan International Music Festival, and Music Fest Perugia. Dr. Lee is deeply involved in enriching the community through outreach programs and performing at unconventional venues such as hospitals, retirement centers, and schools. She performs regularly with her piano trio, Trio713, and is a staff pianist at the Center for Performing Arts Medicine at the Houston Methodist Hospital. She has also served as the director of the Cy-Fair Chamber Music Series and has appeared on KUHF Houston Public Radio on 87.9 FM. Also, a CD album "Archipelago of Light" that she participated as a guest pianist was released in 2013 by Delos Music.

She has received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Kansas. Dr. Lee also has received her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Moores School of Music, a Performer Diploma from Indiana University, and her Bachelor of Music degree from Hansei University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Chamber Music and Accompanying at the Shepherd School of Music while serving as an adjunct professor at the Lone Star College in Montgomery, Texas.
